Glen Teakle

Location: Perth, WA

Areas of expertise: Cybersecurity. I have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (Cybersecurity) and IT service desk experience (Level 1).

Years of experience: 5 months in service desk analyst role

Type of role I’m looking for: Anything that provides an entry level in IT so I can grow my foundational knowledge and skills. Ideally, I would value a role in cybersecurity where I can help and learn.

Work schedule: Full-time, in office, hybrid or work from home.

What I like about working in tech: Learning new technologies. Meeting like-minded people, learning from their knowledge and experiences. Working with others who share the same passions and are heading towards the same goals. Cybersecurity really holds my interest -- it’s a huge area and developing quickly. I want to be a part of it.

Best career advice I’ve ever received: There is a saying: ‘Jack of all trades and master of none’. However, in some cases, I believe it’s good to have diversity of skills; to be able to expand your knowledge because you never know what’s around corner. It’s best to be prepared.

Why you should hire me: I am a very reliable, hard-working professional who is dedicated to a successful career. I have transitioned from hospitality into IT.

I’ll go over, above and beyond for clients. My personable nature allows me to work with a diverse range of clients and peers.

I am not just satisfied with solving problems and moving on, I like to question why and learn how to prevent future issues.

Years of experience: 15 years

Best career advice I’ve ever received: “Take a good look in the mirror”. Before chasing career growth, building relationships, or taking risks, you need to understand yourself, know your strengths and weaknesses, and hold yourself accountable.

I’m creative and have exceptional analytical, statistical, machine learning and communication skills, along with skills in increasing and generating new revenue from existing and prospective customers.

I am a result-driven and a logical thinker with an eye for identifying, assembling, monitoring and making sense of metrics that generate actionable insights for a business.

I’m experienced in the data analytics process from data extraction and transformation, to creating self-service reporting dashboard designs that can report on company's initiatives, such as predictive modelling and clustering.
